As many of you know, the Golden Nugget is offering daily guaranteed no limit hold'em poker tournaments.

Here's some inside information.

Currently they expect about 30 players or less for the weekday guaranteed tournaments, so they have 3 tables ready, and they sit players among those 3 tables as they register. They start dealing once all the tables have at least 3 players. The tournament clock however, starts ticking at 10am even if less than 9 players are registered, so you might not start playing until half-way through round one, or even later. Once the cards are in the air, players will play shorthanded until either the tables fill, or registration closes after level 6 at which point they will combine the tables.

The weekday tournaments offer unlimited re-entries until the end of level 6. Re-entry will cost you the same as your original fee, $68+$12 and you will get a fresh stack of 20,000 chips. You can see the tournament schedule here.

We stopped by the Golden Nugget to check out the Wednesday morning tournament, and it started around 10:20am with 9 players and reached a total of 18 players. It appeared nobody opted for the re-entry, so there was a nice overlay. Play skill varied as with most any other tournament you might come across with a mix of good and not so good players.

With the overlay, structure, and play level, this is a nice tournament for amateurs and seasoned vets alike. Head down there soon to take advantage of the overlays, because the fields will surely be increasing steadily.

Today marks the property wide grand opening celebration at the Golden Nugget in Atlantic City.
